How to Build a Handwritten Note Habit (Even If You're Busy)
The reason most people don't write notes isn't laziness. It's friction. The cards aren't nearby. The stamps ran out months ago. By the time you've found everything, the moment has passed.
The fix is a system, not a resolution.
Make it stupidly easy: Keep a small tray or box on your desk with everything in one place — cards, a pen, stamps. When the impulse strikes, it takes two minutes, not a scavenger hunt.
Batch it, don't force it: Set aside 15 minutes once a week — Sunday evenings, Friday mornings, whenever feels natural. Write two or three notes at once. It's easier when you're already in the headspace.
Lower the bar: A two-sentence note is a note. It counts. Waiting until you have something profound to say means you'll wait forever.
The habit builds itself once it becomes effortless. And once it's effortless, you'll wonder how you went so long without it.
